24 Hour Fitness Speeds onto NASCAR Racing Scene Pleasanton, CA - April 20, 2001 - 24 Hour Fitness USA, Inc and Vintage Motorsports today announced their partnership to form the new 24 Hour Fitness NASCAR racing team. The team will compete in NASCAR’S Winston West series, the largest regional racing series in the United States. "With the unprecedented popularity of NASCAR racing and our participation in the Winston West series, we feel this new partnership will appeal to our members, most of whom are concentrated in the Western United States," said Chris Marek, Director of New Business for 24 Hour Fitness USA, Inc. "We are excited about our partnership with Vintage Motorsports and believe our racing team will add a new level of excitement to the 24 Hour Fitness brand." 24 Hour Fitness’ partnership in this new NASCAR team marks the first and largest regional fitness organization sponsorship in the Winston West series. "24 Hour Fitness will bring a new and exciting dimension to the world of NASCAR," said Richard Brown, Vice President, Vintage Motorsports. "We are thrilled to have 24 Hour Fitness join our family of sponsors and are privileged to represent their interest in racing." Two-Time Winston West champion, Bill Sedgwick of Acton, California, will drive the 24 Hour Fitness racecar. Sedgwick has experience competing with two of NASCAR’s popular national series, the Winston Cup and Craftsman Truck series and is a proven winner. Known as a consistent and smart driver, Sedgwick is looking forward to steering the 24 Hour Fitness team into a championship. The 24 Hour Fitness racing team premieres Saturday, April 28, 2001 at the California Speedway during the first race of the Winston West series. The team is slated to compete in nine additional races during the season. In addition to supporting 24 Hour Fitness with special in-club events, Vintage Motorsports will work with the fitness center chain to create racing-themed promotional local marketing activities throughout the Winston Cup season series.
